The cabin overlooks a 32 acre spring fed lake that is surrounded by woods and pasture that is grazed by beef cattle. The property has a wide variety of wildlife, including beaver, eagles, herons, and many other furry and feathered friends. The lake has a plethra of bluegill, crappie, large and small mouth bass, catfish and is great for fishing. The cabin has a full kitchen with stove, microwave, toaster, refrigerator, and coffee pot. It is stocked with a variety of pots, pans and dishware. The bathroom has a stand up shower with no bathtub. Most of the property, with the exception of directly around the cabin and an area for swimming, is grazed by beef cattle. There is a locked gate at the entrance to the cabin that must stay shut at all times for the cattle. The mother cows and calves will rarely come near you and it is important that they are left alone, but they are fun to watch. There is a canoe and a rowboat to use at the lake, and some life jackets. There is a fire ring and wood is provided for you. There are also picnic tables on the screened in porch and out by the fire ring area. There is also an outdoor grill that uses charcoal. The cabin has its own private driveway.

Enjoy viewing the natural wildlife from the large bay window in the sitting room which can double as sleeping space with a convertible sofa. Our kitchen is equipped with everything guests might need to turn the catch of the day into a delicious feast including a full-size fridge, stove/oven, dishwasher, Keurig, crock pot, panini press, microwave, pots/pan, utensils, and place settings for eight. We also feature a Kinetico K5 reverse osmosis system that provides the highest quality drinking water to our guests. Next to the kitchen is a mudroom that offers a washer/dryer combo free of charge to guests as well as a small shower to allow for easy clean up after any outdoor adventure. Enjoy watching the 32” LG Smart TV from the queen size bed in the master bedroom. New Sealy mattress and memory foam pillows provide a blissful night sleep. In excess of 2,500 sq ft, some parts are over 160 yrs old. But the beautifully well-maintained Thomas M. Abell House is situated within walking distance to downtown businesses, Courthouse Square, and the Amphitheater at Perkins Park. Grocery stores, the Eastwood Mall, Mosquito Lake State Park, local bike trails, etc are all nearby too. A ramp and a full downstairs bathroom with shower were installed to make the house wheelchair friendly. The second "servant staircase" is still intact. While we list the house as sleeping 8, there are two full sofas and a settee (plus bedding!), which could expand the capacity to 11. The Thomas M. Abell House contains vintage and antique furnishings, fixtures, and woodwork. We want our guests to enjoy elements of a bygone era while living with modern conveniences. Please don't be afraid to touch … but we do request your respect. The house is heated with hot water radiators. On the coldest of mornings they have been known to make a few tapping sounds as they heat up. Plaster walls and ceilings mean that some cracks are visible, but we embrace these as evidence of its age. Welcome to a cozy & comfortable suite in the beautiful countryside of Geauga County where you will see & hear the Amish buggies driving by. We are located away from it all, but close to everything - 40 minutes to downtown Cleveland, 10 minutes to the Burton square, 15 minutes to Middlefield, and close to some great wineries! A couple of our favorites are a little less than 20 minutes away, just ask if you'd like! Your private suite is nicely appointed with everything you'll need for a night away or a week of touring the area and can accommodate up to 5 (including an infant). The bedroom has a queen bed with down comforter. In the living room there is a full-size pullout sofa bed. We also have a pack and play available if needed for an infant/small child. The kitchen includes a range & oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, coffee maker, and toaster, along with all of the cooking utensils you'll need. And you don't need to take dirty clothes home with you with the in-suite stacked washer/dryer. There are also 2 cute pygmy goats on the property. Originally built as an inlaw suite this home has transformed into the perfect vacation rental. The jack and Jill full bathroom conects to both bedrooms and one bedroom has a king size bed and the other has a queen size bed. The kitchen has all of the cooking implements needed to make your own meals. There are both indoor and outdoor fireplaces to enjoy warm cozy nights around. We also have a playground for kids to enjoy. As a guest you are welcome to enjoy a nature walk through the woods, or just relax in one of the hammocks around the fire.
