Description
When my daughter was in 1st grade she wanted to join a group that she brought the ad home from school. I joined the WP YMCA Indian Guides(father/son) & Indian Princess(fahter/daughter). The Princess tribe was 6 of us fathers and our daughters. The fathers also had sons in other various tribe groups that kept falling apart so we brought our sons into the girls tribe & made our tribe unofficially co-ed on our own. We had monthly outings(Indians, tobogganing, etc.) as well as home meetings with events rotating houses. When the kids got too old(at 13) to be allowed to stay in we continued on & brought the mothers and all other kids in. Many changes came, people moved out of the city but still we had outings & get togethers at our homes taking turns. We kept on camping together at Centerville Mills for 3 days every year Labor Day weekends renting out the lodge. Even when the kids were in college they still showed up. I am sad to say that one of the fathers, Bruce Zayd, died years ago but all the kids/parents are still friends on FB with me. This is a pic of the group at one of our many weekend Labor Day campouts at Centerville Mills which is now closed..
